A Tactical Field Guide to Rapid Career Advancement

Who it's for

For first-time corporate professionals and midlife career pivoters who need to build trust, visibility, and momentum faster than the standard timeline assumes they can.

Free.

No upsell. No course funnel.

Just the playbook I wish someone had handed me on Day One.

Here is what no one tells you

Here's what nobody tells you on your first day.

The orientation deck will explain the org chart. HR will walk you through benefits enrollment. Your manager will point you toward a shared drive full of documents nobody has updated since 2019.

What nobody will hand you is a playbook for how things actually work. How decisions get made. How reputations get built. How some people seem to accelerate past everyone else without being the most credentialed, the most connected, or the most tenure.

I spent 20 years figuring that out through expensive mistakes, a handful of well-timed relationships, and one operating belief that has driven every promotion and stretch assignment in my career:

It is better to be told to wait than to wait to be told.

This guide is everything I learned, tested, measured, and pressure-tested across five companies, teams of up to 18 practitioners, and a career path that looks nothing like a straight line.

 What is in the playbook

A 90-day initiative framework, broken down week by week, that I've used at every company I've joined and coached dozens of professionals through. Built around the research showing that proactive behavior doesn't just correlate with career success, it predicts it forward.

A three-layer networking strategy that builds internal advocacy, industry visibility, and aspirational relationships simultaneously, with specific conversation frameworks and cadences so you're not guessing what to say or how often to show up.

A personal branding approach grounded in data (50% of professionals now say brand matters more than resume) with tactical steps for both internal visibility and LinkedIn positioning. Not theory. Specific actions, specific frequencies, specific language.

A strategic learning model that closes actual career gaps instead of collecting certificates. Includes a skill audit process, a prioritization framework, and the one-week application rule that separates people who learn from people who grow.

A complete chapter for midlife career pivoters with a translation framework for repackaging your experience, a 6-month acceleration plan, and an honest conversation about why your nonlinear path is a competitive advantage, not something to apologize for.

Every framework is either tested in my own career or backed by peer-reviewed research. Usually both.

Where this comes from

I've led L&D and enablement teams across Sprint, Samsung Electronics America, T-Mobile, Freedom Mortgage, and Sunrun. The results include a documented 77% reduction in time-to-proficiency (measured against real performance data, not satisfaction surveys), a merger integration of roughly 1,300 inherited employees where we avoided the post-merger performance dip that most acquisitions suffer, and approximately $11 million in combined cost savings and revenue impact.

I also earned my GED at 28. Failed out of community college twice.

Returned to school in my 40s and graduated Magna Cum Laude at UMass Global while working full-time and running a consulting practice.

When I say this playbook works for nonlinear paths, I'm not speaking theoretically.
